Geosciences.com was created as a degree-finding utility for the fields of geology, geography, oceanography, and GIS.

Methodology
The goal of the Geosciences.com degree finder was to organize and group degrees into states and research types to ease the process of finding a particular degree. A difficulty in categorizing degrees into research types was that many institutions had different names for what are essentially the same or very similar areas of research. In an attempt to standardize research area names we have grouped similar research areas into a single designation - these designations may differ from the names used by individual departments. This was necessary to create a structured and organized degree finder by research area.
